I could say I've been a woodworker almost my whole life, but I started as more of an apprentice of all trades. I remember as a child helping my father remodel our kitchen; building cabinets, installing counter tops, plumbing, and wiring outlets and switches. That's where my journey began with the task of handing him tools, holding the end of a measuring tape or chalk line, and carrying boards. My father created without a drawn plan, he had a vision and his imagination to guide him. He taught me a love for tools, creating with my hands and believing that my skills are limitless as long as I kept my imagination. I set my goal to be a woodworker about 17 years ago and have been building my skills even since.
Craftsmanship
Each piece of furniture begins when new ideas take shape and inspirations converge. The value in quality furniture is often dependent on the material selection, joinery and the chosen finish. Attention to factors such as specie, grain direction, figuring, defects, and a board's size and shape are all taken into consideration when selecting materials. I pride myself by creating hand-crafted furnishings using traditional joinery methods such as mortise-and-tenon, bridle, lap joints, and dowel pinning. Modern joinery methods are sometimes necessary, but used sparingly in every project.
